Important Matters of Coatings Standards in 2005

Dear Exhibitors,

According to the information by National Technical Committee of Paint and Pigment for Standardization, we clear up Important Matters of Coatings Standards in 2005 for you. It's as follows:

? The Standard will be implemented compulsively since 1 st August, 2005, which is solvent-based wood lacquer must be qualified to China Compulsory Certification ( 3C ).

? 13 National Standards will be implemented since 2005, specified as for:

1 . Chromium Green
2 . Colored Paint and Clear Lacquer: examination and preparation for test sample
3 . Colored Paint and Clear Lacquer: wearability measurement by rotating rubber abrasive wheeling
4 . Colored Paint and Clear Lacquer: film hardness tested by pencil method
Other 9 National Standard of pre-painting steel surface treatment are in line with the relative international standards.

? 2 standards of fluororesin coatings will be issued and play an important role in the market standardization:
(1) cross-linking fluororesin coatings (two types: ? for architecture ,? for metal surface)
(2) Hot-melt PVDF Coatings

? 6 urgent standards are being revised for coatings industry this year, that is:
1. water-based wood lacquer
2. flooring coatings
3. Solvent-based polyurethane coatings (two-component)
4.Coil coatings
5. Synthetic resins powder coatings
6. Spray polyurea elastomer coatings

? In addition, by re-examining and estimating 210 national standards managed by National Technical Committee of Paint and Pigment for Standardization (7 compulsive standards and 203 recommendable standards) and 30 planned projects for national standards, 22% of the 210 national standards will be ruled out, specifically, 10 standards thereof are revised into other standards and 36 standards thereof are abolished. And 30 planned projects for national standards are remained valid.

? The results of standards re-examination & estimation in coatings industry begin to put into effects, 56 standards issued before 1995 are remained valid, 2 standards in coatings industry are to be revised and 10 standards are abolished.
