From technology, application and promotion, waterborne coatings have made sufficient preparation to impact the coatings market, which will become the most popular coating next year.

    In recent market, there are superfluous mediate and low grade products and lacking of high grade products, which provides wide space for low pollution and cleaning waterborne coatings. Some experts pointed that the demand for industrial waterborne coatings is quite pressing, which need more than 1 million tons annually.

    Fast development of automobile industry is the main force of increasing demand for industrial waterborne coatings. It is estimated that the growth rate next year will not be less than 30%. The emission of organic solvents reaches 0.8 million tons every year, wasting 3 billion yuan. However, if waterborne industrial coatings replaced 1/3 conventional coatings, 1 billion yuan could be saved. The statistics showed that China demands 1.7 million tons industrial coating annually, while 1 million tons could be replaced by waterborne anticorrosion coatings. In 2005, the application of waterborne industrial coatings will raise to 35%.

    As for architectural coatings, many kinds of conventional coatings will be replaces by environmental protective waterborne coatings, too.

    However, few corporations in our country can produce eligible products. Among 8 000 corporations, only 30 corporations could produce 100 kinds of waterborne coatings, such as Dulux, Nippon, Dengta and Fuya.
