Waterborne Coatings
    They include waterborne polyurethane wood coatings, waterborne acrylic emulsion wood coatings, waterborne epoxy flooring coatings, waterborne automobile inter-paint and base-paint, waterborne fluoro resin coatings, etc. Changzhou Paint & Coatings Industry Research Institute, Audmay (Zibo) High Molecute Material Co.,Ltd., Jiangsu Rongchang Chemicals Co.,Ltd., Guangzhou Supe Chemical Co.,Ltd., Dalian Zebon Coating Corporation, South China University of Technology and Hubei University have achieved some fruits in this field. But generally, waterborne products have not been put into mass production.

UV Curing Coatings
    In the photoinitiator for UV curing coatings field, our country has entered the advanced range all over the world. The main R & D companies include Changtai Chemical Factory and Th-Unis Insight Co.,Ltd. UV coatings have been applied in wood furniture, plastic products and hull of mobile phones. Especially the UV curing powder coatings have attracted much attention of insiders.

Powder Coatings
    Statistics from Society of Coatings & Finishing of CIESC shows that China has become the largest production country of powder coating in the world. It produced more than 0.4 million tons powder coatings in 2004. Akzo Nobel Chang Cheng Coatings Corporation is the largest producer of powder coatings in China. Epoxy polyester is still the main stream of our powder coatings. Powder coatings have been applied in pipes generally, and its application in automobiles is also attractive.

Anticorrosion Coatings
    In recent years, along with the West Development Strategy, construction of high way and railway develop swiftly, which provide chance for anticorrosion coatings and heavy-duty anticorrosion coatings. Hemple Coatings Co.,Ltd. has gradually become the leader of anticorrosion coatings in China.

Nano Modified Coatings
    In December, 2004, National Chemical Industry Productive Forces Promotion Center and National Paint & Coatings R & D Center held the 1st Symposium on Technical Development & Application—Nano–Materials for Coatings, which lead the healthy development of nano modified coatings. (Suzhou) Zhongke Nanotech Coatings Co.,Ltd., Jiangsu Changtai Nanometer Material Co.,Ltd., Jiangsu Hehai Nanometer Science and Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Elephant Dongya Paint Co.,Ltd. and Guangdong G & P New Material Co.,Ltd. have volume-produced nano compound photocatalysis coatings, antibacterial coatings, self-cleaning coatings and functional coatings, which received positive social benefit and economical benefit.

Architectural Coatings
    Architectural take up 50% output of all coatings in our country. Interior coatings are mainly styrene acrylic emulsion coating, and exterior coatings include silicone acrylic emulsion coatings, acrylic emulsion coating and tertiary acrylic emulsion coatings.

Fluoro Resin Coatings
    There are two series of fluoro resin coatings in China, PVDF coatings for thermoplastic high bake wall and thermosetting air curing FEVE coatings. The former one mostly relies on import, while the later one is the characteristic type for exterior coatings although its technology coming from Japan.

Coil Coatings
    Since 2003, National Paint & Coatings Industry Information Center holds an International Color Sheet and Coatings/Finishing Forum every year. Influenced by governmental macro-controlling, production of coil coatings was in downturn in 2004 until the 4th quarter. Along with the deploitation of color sheet market, the market of color sheet for household appliances develops well.
